Result of Ballot on WRC Public Service Stability Agreement 2018-2020

Dear Branch Secretary

The count of the Association’s ballot on the WRC proposals was completed today.   82% voting in favour of the proposals and 18% voting against the proposal.   There was a 59% turnout.

Ballot Papers Issued:             2761               Ballot Papers Returned:         1639  (59%)

In Favour:                           1348 (82%)     Against:                               291 (18%)

The Association will be voting for the WRC proposals at the ICTU Public Services Committee meeting in September.

The Association will continue to keep members updated.   The Association has issued the press release below

AHCPS members vote to accept Public Service Stability Agreement

Members vote 82% in favour & 18% against  

AHCPS first union to conclude vote on public sector pay agreement

For immediate release: July 7, 2017:  Members of the AHCPS have voted to accept the Public Service Stability Agreement 2018 -2020 by a majority of 82%.

The union is the first to conclude their vote on the measures set out in the public sector pay agreement. Members delivered the clear majority verdict without a recommendation from the Executive to accept or reject the deal.

Commenting, General Secretary of the AHCPS, Ciaran Rohan said; “While we were somewhat disappointed that our members will be waiting a further five years to see their pay levels restored to pre-recession levels, we do welcome the progress made during the recent pay talks and we will continue in the months and years ahead to work with our members to deliver the full restoration of their pay. If we want to attract and retain experienced and skilled managers into the civil and public sector, we need to ensure that they are remunerated appropriately and in line with what’s available in the private sector. In this regard the Association looks forward to engaging with the Public Service Pay Commission to address the problem of the level of remuneration at senior levels in the Civil and Public Service.” he said.

Ciaran Rohan is a member of the Executive Council of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and participated in the pay talks.
