Subject: Notice from DPER to Personnel Officers re late Salary Payments
Notice to all Personnel Officers
The Department of Public Expenditure & Reform has been made aware of problems within Bank of Ireland (BOI) which have led to delays in payments to fortnightly paid staff in the Civil Service as well as some staff payments across the wider Public Service and in the private sector. BOI have now informed the Department of Finance (DOF) Salaries section that this issue has now been resolved. However, because of the SEPA processing timeframes, bank accounts will not be credited until tomorrow. BOI have informed DOF that they are working to have payments credited to payee’ accounts for early morning. This applies to BOI, AIB and Ulster bank accounts. Other banking institutions, e.g. Permanent TSB and Credit Union accounts have to go through an additional process and payments will be credited to accounts sometime later tomorrow.
Payments normally due for payment tomorrow, including Social Welfare payments will not be impacted by today’s issues.
The Banks have been asked to address any late payments issues as a customer service matter.
Please inform your staff accordingly.
