AHCPS clarifies details of RTE item on pension entitlements

(08 Sep 2011)

The General Secretary of the AHCPS, Dave Thomas, has contacted the producers of RTE's Today with Pat Kenny programme to clarify the exact position in regard to pension entitlements for retiring civil servants.

In the course of Mr Kenny's interview with Mr Gerald Flynn, Mr Flynn provided examples of the pension entitlements that retiring civil servants would receive stating that they would be entitled to up to 40/60ths (two-thirds) of their annual salary. However, the maximum entitlement is in fact 40/80ths (50%) of annual salary.

The AHCPS has communicated this to RTE.
