Circular 18/2026 – AHCPS Ballot for Industrial Action

Dear Branch Secretary,

The AHCPS National Executive Committee met at lunch time today to consider the current issues around Public Service Pay. This was a follow on from a consultative process engaged in by the Association which culminated in a Consultative Council in late July.

Issues have moved on since the Consultative Council with other constituent unions of the ICTU Public Services Committee conducting and passing ballots. This included Fórsa which voted 97% in favour of taking industrial action. The Executive is acutely aware of this and feedback from members in recent weeks.

Since the previous Public Service Pay agreement expired in June there have been no concrete offers from Government around Public Service Pay and no acknowledgement that pay rises passed since 2024 have been eroded by inflation. Lack of action from Government has exacerbated this situation.

The Association will commence balloting members next week to undertake industrial action up to and including strike action. Full information will be sent to you at that point.
